WATCH THIS SHOW: Adventure Time With Finn and Jake

I have stumbled across a true gem that I feel is my duty to share with everyone. This is a new show, to debut in March, titled Adventure Time with Finn and Jake. Adventure Time chronicles the adventures of Finn (a boy) and Jake (his magical dog) as they journey across the epic and imaginative land of Ooo looking for wrongs to right and evil-doers to stop. Their main foe, the Ice King, controls his ice kingdom and they get in hilarious battles along the way. The show will debut on Cartoon Network this March, and is sure to be an instant classic.

Part of the reason I love Adventure Time so much is because of it's off-beat humor. It's similar to the type of comedy that Wes Anderson has made a name for himself off of. When completing an awesome task, like saving Princess Bubblegum, Finn will frequently yell "Mathematical!" or "Rhombus!" as a way of expressing his extreme happiness.

I first discovered Adventure Time on youtube, almost 2 years ago, as Pendleton Ward, the creator, had posted his short pilot of the show. The ridiculous comedy and imaginative characters and situations that come from this guy's head are amazing to watch.

Watch the short here...

In the past, I've had Youtube embedded videos pulled from my blog, so I'm also posting a link to it...

WATCH THE MOST AWESOMEST AND MOST FUNNIEST SHORT EVERRRRRR!!!!

  1. I am super weird in that I have always hated animation that is unrealistic. I hated shows where there were no conequences for things that happened. For example, Ren and Stimp- ohh man don't even get me started on that show... I hated how violent it was! Ren would always wack Stimpy with hammers and such, and Stimpy would never get hurt. Similarly in the Coyote and Roadrunner cartoons, the Coyote never got hurt when he was blown up by Roadrunner. I know the point of these shows is that they are animations and the fun of it is that everyone can get blown up and its not real so everything is okay. I must have been a pretty annoying kid! People still get upset with me about this issue I have with animation- I hate South Park and my entire apartment loves it and watches it together (including Cesar). I guess I'm a real downer!
Recently, as you may know, I discovered my LOVE for Pixar and being an editor there is my dream job. I do argue that even though Pixar is all a type of animation, that they are not violent and there are consequences for actions. In any case, now that my sister will be an animation major and I feel like I am missing out on Adult Swim shows and lots of animated shows that are well-written, I'll give Finn and Jake a try when it airs. I'll keep you posted!
